Palak
Paneer is one of the most loved North Indian Dishes which is eaten with roti,
paratha, naan or even with rice. Soft Paneer cubes are simmered in smooth,
vibrant green, medium spicy spinach gravy.
It is
very easy to prepare and can be made in so many ways. But today I’m going to
share a bit healthy version of palak paneer so keep on watching.
Ingredients:
1.
Spinach (Palak): 1 bunch or 6 cups
2.
Methi Leaves (Fresh Fenugreek Leaves): 1 cup
3.
Paneer (cut into cubes): 1 cup
4.
Dry Fenugreek Leaves: 1 tbsp
5.
Fenugreek Seeds: 1 tbsp
6.
Cumin seeds: 1/2 tsp
7.
Dry Red chilies: 2
8.
Finely Chopped Onions: 2 (large size)
9.
Finely Chopped Tomatoes: 1 (large size)
10.
Garlic Cloves: 7-8
11.
Ginger: 1 inch
12.
Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp
13.
Red Chili Powder: 1 tbsp
14.
Cumin Powder: 1 tbsp
15.
Coriander Powder: 1 tbsp
16.
Salt: to taste
17.
Butter: 2 cubes
18.
Oil for cooking
Method:
1.
Wash the spinach and methi leaves properly.
2.
Boil the Spinach and the Methi leaves together with garlic and ginger.
3.
We’ll now make a puree out of our boiled spinach.
4. In
a pan add some oil and fry the paneer cubes very lightly on both the sides
until they change color.
5. In
the same pan add some fenugreek seeds and fry them until they turn black in
color. Remove them afterwards.
6.
Now add some cumin seeds and dry red chilies. Let them crackle and then add the
chopped onions and fry them until they change color.
7. At
this point add the chopped tomatoes and fry them until they become soft and you
can see the oil oozing out.
8.
Now it’s the time to add our dry spices. Add some red chili powder, turmeric
powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and obviously salt to taste.
9.
We’ll now pour in our spinach puree and mix it nicely with the prepared masala.
If your puree is too thick then add the water which we have used in boiling the
spinach and methi leaves. Cover and let it cook for 7-8 mins.
10.
Open the lid and add our paneer cubes, green chilies, kasuri methi. Cook it
again for 5 mins so that all the flavor gets into the paneer cubes.
11.
At last we’ll add a cube of butter to give it a final touch.
