Restaurant Style Paneer Tikka Masala

Paneer Tikka Masala is a very popular North Indian dish that is commonly served in restaurants. This is a super delicious dish where marinated and grilled Paneer pieces are dipped in the spicy and tangy onion-tomato based gravy.

Whenever we visit any Indian restaurant and we have to order any veg recipes Paneer Tikka Masala is one of our favorites along with Garlic Naan. This Paneer recipe tastes amazing with both Indian flatbread or Jeera Rice.

This recipe of Paneer Tikka Masala is a bit on the heavier side as it has onions, tomatoes, yogurt and cream (adding cream is optional). The most important step in this recipe is to balance the spices. This recipe is appropriate when you have any guests coming your way or you have a party at your home. You can prepare the Tikkas beforehand and make the gravy and dip the Tikkas in them. Ta-Da our Paneer Tikka Masala is ready.

You can grill the Paneer Tikkas or even Pan Fry them. If you don't have an oven then pan fry them and trust me there is no difference in the taste. So, without any further ado let's begin with the recipe:

Ingredients:

1. Paneer (Cottage Cheese): 8-10 pieces (cubed)
2. Onions paste: 2 medium sizes
3. Tomato paste: 3 medium size
4. Curd: 1/2 cup
5. Besan/ Gram Flour: 2 tbsp
6. Ginger Garlic Paste: 2 tbsp
7. Whole Garam Masala: (1/2 cinnamon, 3-4 green cardamoms, 5-6 cloves, 5-6 black peppers, 1 black cardamom)
8. Turmeric Powder: 1 tbsp
9. Red Chilli Powder: 2 tsp
10. Cumin Powder: 2 tsp
11. Coriander Powder: 2 tsp
12. Chaat Masala: 1 tsp
13. Garam Masala Powder: 1 tsp
14. Kasuri Methi: 1 tbsp
15. Green Chillies: 1
16. Oil: for cooking
17. Salt: as per taste
18. Coriander Leaves: few sprigs

Method:

1. In a bowl add the curd and besan.

2. Add ginger-garlic paste, salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, chaat masala, and garam masala powder. Mix everything well to make a smooth marinade.

3. Add in the veggies and the paneer cubes and coat them nicely with the marinate. Let it rest for 30 mins in the refrigerator.

4. In a pan take some oil and add the marinated paneer cubes and the veggies. Cook them for 3 mins on each side.

6. Flip them very gently and again cook them for 3 mins.

7. Once done take them out on a plate.

8. In a separate pan heat some oil on medium flame and add the whole garam masala. Let the release their aroma in the oil. Take care not to burn them. Now take them out in a bowl.

9. Now add the onion paste and fry it until it becomes golden in color.

10. At this point add the ginger-garlic paste and fry it until the raw flavor is gone.

11. Now add the tomato puree and cook it until the oil is separated.

12. Add the powdered spices like salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Now mix everything well.

13. Add water and let the gravy simmer on medium heat for 8-10 mins.

14. Take off the lid and add the fried paneer, capsicum and onion cubes. Coat them well with the prepared gravy and again cook for 5 mins on medium flame.

15. Finally add Kasuri methi, garam masala powder, and green chili. Cook for a minute and then switch off the flame.

16. Take out the Paneer Tikka Masala in a serving bowl and garnish with green chili and coriander leaves. Enjoy!!
