Potato Balls/ Potato Lollipops

As we have started a new series where I'm posting the replicas of our favorite food items which we get in our favorite restaurants like McDonald's, Dominos, Pizza Hut etc. I have already shared some recipes like:

You can click the links to read more about the recipes. Today's recipe is a variation of Chicken Balls. I have tried to make it vegetarian by using Potatoes. Therefore today's recipe is Potato Balls. This is a very healthy recipe as you can add or subtract any veggies as per your or your kid's liking. You can also add cheese to make it more appealing to your naughty toddlers.

So, without any further ado, let's begin with the recipe:

Ingredients:

1. Boiled Potatoes: 4 (medium size)
2. Onion (chopped): 1 (medium size)
3. Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp
4. Breadcrumbs: 1.5 cups
5. Corn flour: 3 tbsp
6. Chilli flakes: 1 tsp
7. Pizza Seasoning: 1 tsp (optional)
8. Chat Masala: 1 tsp
9. Red Chilli Powder: 1 tsp
10. Cumin Powder: 1 tsp
11. Salt: to taste
12. Coriander Leaves (chopped)
13. Oil: for frying
14. Water: 1/4 cup

Method:

1. Grate the boiled potatoes in a bowl. Doing this will give a nice texture to our potato balls or potato lollipops.

2. Into this grated potatoes goes in the chopped onions, chopped coriander leaves, ginger-garlic paste, chili flakes, salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, chat masala, and breadcrumbs.

3. Mix well and knead it into a smooth dough.

4. Grease your hands with oil and make small lemon size balls from the potato mixture.

5. In a bowl add the cornflour and mix it well with water to form cornflour slurry.

6. Mix pizza seasoning in the breadcrumbs. Using Pizza seasoning in the breadcrumbs is completely optional.

7. Dip the prepared potato balls in the prepared cornflour slurry and coat them with breadcrumbs. Repeat this process twice to avoid breaking of the potato balls or potato lollipops.

8. Heat oil in a pan on medium-high flame and add the potato balls or potato lollipops one-by-one.

9. Fry the potato balls or potato lollipops until they turn golden brown in color.

10. Once done take out the potato balls or potato lollipops on a plate.

11. Serve the Potato Balls or Potato Lollipops with tomato ketchup or any dipping sauce of your choice.

12. Garnish the Potato balls or Potato lollipops with chopped coriander leaves and toothpicks. Enjoy!!
