Veg Spring Rolls


Hello, my Foodie friends........I hope you all are doing fine. As you know last month I started a new series where I'm sharing some fast food recipes which are available at our favorite food joints or restaurants like McDonald's, KFC, Domino's, etc. I have already shared some recipes like:
Slowly and gradually I'll be sharing some more recipes under this section. Today's recipe is Veg Spring Rolls. These are very popular Asian snack items which are often served as an appetizer in a restaurant and even on the street-side Asian food stalls.


Spring Tolls are crisp deep-fried snacks where spring roll wrappers are filled with spicy and crunchy stuffing made with veggies or mixed with any kind of protein. They are then deep-fried and served with a salad and a dipping sauce. There are two variations of Spring Rolls: Veg and Non-Veg. Today I'll be sharing the veg version.


In this blog post, I'll share a step-by-step process of HOW TO MAKE SPRING ROLLS? Starting from:
  • MAKING SPRING ROLL WRAPPERS
  • MAKING THE STUFFING
  • FOLDING THE SPRING ROLLS
  • FRYING THE SPRING ROLLS
Here, I'll make SPRING ROLL WRAPPERS from scratch but you can use store-bought ones too which would make the job much easier. But you can always make these spring roll wrappers and freeze them for 2-3 months and use them as and when required. One of the most important things to keep in mind while making the spring roll wrappers is HOW TO FOLD THE SPRING ROLLS? If you make a mistake in this step then the stuffing will ooze out from the spring rolls and they will become oily and soggy. 

So, let's make Veg Spring Rolls:





Ingredients:

FOR MAKING SPRING ROLL SHEETS:

1. All-Purpose Flour: 1 cup
2. Baking Soda: 1/4 tsp
3. Salt: to taste
4. Water: 1+3/4 cup
5. Oil: for greasing

FOR MAKING FILLING:

1. Veggies: your choice
2. Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp
3. Vinegar: 1 tsp
4. Soy Sauce: 1 tsp
5. Black Pepper Powder: 1 tsp
6. Salt: to taste
7. Oil: for frying


Method:

FOR MAKING SPRING ROLL SHEETS:

1. In a bowl add all-purpose flour, salt, and baking soda. 

2. Mix all the dry ingredients using a wire whisk.

3. Add water (little at a time) and mix them well. 

4. Place a pan on medium heat and brush oil on it.

5. Add a ladle full of batter and spread it evenly. Allow it to dry. 

6. Once done take it out on a plate. Similarly, make the rest of the spring roll sheets.

FOR MAKING THE FLOUR PASTE:

1. Mix the flour (2 tbsp) and water (1 tbsp) together. Keep aside.

FOR MAKING FILLING:

1. Heat oil in a pan and add onions. Cook them for a minute.

2. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry them until the raw flavor is gone.

3. Add the veggies and cook them for 2 minutes. Do not overcook them.

4. Add salt, black pepper powder, vinegar and soy sauce. Mix everything well.

5. Once done switch off the flame and allow the filling to cool down.

FOR ASSEMBLING THE SPRING ROLLS:

1. Take a sheet and add the filling.

2. Try to make 3 folds in the spring rolls. 

3. Apply the flour paste and roll the sides inward. 

4. Heat oil in a pan and fry the spring rolls on medium flame until they turn golden in color.

5. Once done take them out on a plate.


6. Serve the Veg Spring Rolls with salad and dipping sauce of your choice. Enjoy!!
