Hello my Foodie Friends. Hope you all are doing great. As an Indian we all love Indo-Chinese cuisine. Whether it's Noodles, Chili Chicken, Fried Rice, Schezwan Noodles, Manchurian we love them all. These dishes are not authentic Chinese food but they are adopted to the taste buds of the localite people.
For me personally I love Thai food more than the Chinese food. Bangkok is mentioned as one of the best street serving cities in the world. It is also known as the Street Food Capital of the world. Thai cooking gives importance to lightly prepared dishes with strong aromas and a spicy edge. They give lot of emphasis to food's appearance, smell and texture.
In this post we'll share the recipe of a very popular street food which is Chicken Satay. Chicken Satay is a very common Southeast Asian dish where seasoned, skewered and grilled meat is served with a tangy peanut sauce. It is a dish from Indonesia; and popular in Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
Making this mouth watering dish has two parts first grilling the seasoned chicken and then the sauce.Chicken satay is served with a creamy and tangy peanut sauce. For that we need roasted peanuts.
For making Peanut Sauce:
1. Peanuts: 1 cup
2. Coconut Cream: 1 tbsp
3. Tamarind Pulp: 1 tbsp
4. Soy Sauce: 1/2 tsp
5. Fish sauce: 1/2 tbsp
6. Red Chili Powder: 1 tbsp
7. Garlic Powder: 1 tbsp
8. Honey: 1 tbsp
9. Salt to taste
For making Chicken Satay:
1. Chicken Strips: 8-10
2. Onions (roughly chopped): 1 cup
3. Lemon grass: 1/4 cup
4. Garlic (cloves): 5-6
5. Ginger: 1 inch
6. Red Chili Powder: 1 tbsp
7. Turmeric Powder: 1/4 tsp
8. Cumin Powder: 1/2 tbsp
9. Coriander Powder: 1/2 tbsp
10. Fennel Seeds: 1 tbsp
11. Soy sauce: 1/2 tsp
12. fish Sauce: 1/2 tbsp
13. Honey: 1 tbsp
14. Oil: 2 tbsp
15. Salt to taste
16. Satay Sticks: 8-10
Method:
1. Take a blender and add all the ingredients mentioned under "For making Peanut Sauce". Blend all these ingredients with 1/3rd cup of water to form a fine paste.
2. Pour this liquid into a pan and cook it for not more than 3 minutes. Add water if required to adjust the consistency as per your choice.
3. When the sauce starts simmering switch off the heat. Keep the Peanut Sauce aside.
4. In a blender we’ll take lemon grass, chopped onions, garlic cloves, ginger, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, cumin powder, coriander powder, fennel seeds, soy sauce, fish sauce, honey and oil. Blend all these ingredients well to form a marinate.
5. In a mixing bowl pour in all the marinate and add the chicken strips one by one.
6. Coat all the chicken strips nicely with this marinate and let it rest for at least an hour.
7. Take a satay stick and skewer the chicken strip in a zig-zag pattern as I have shown or you can skewer it straight.
8. Heat some oil in the pan and add the satay sticks one by one. Cook them on one side for about 3-4 mins.
9. Once done from one side flip them and again cook them for another 3-4 mins on this side.
10. Our satay sticks are now ready take them out in the serving plate.
11. Serve the Chicken Satay with the tangy peanut sauce. Enjoy!!!
