Today's recipe is Potato Patties. This can serve as a great companion with your evening cup of tea. It is very easy to make and taste just awesome. There are two steps in making this recipe:
- Preparing the filling for the patties
- Making the wrapper
So, let's begin with the recipe:
1. Boiled Potatoes: 4-5 (medium size)
2. Fresh Peas: 1/2 cup3. Wheat Flour: 1.5 cups
4. Chopped Onion: 1 (medium size)
5. Ginger-Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp
6. Chat Masala: 1 tsp
7. Red Chilli Powder: 1 tsp
8. Cumin Powder: 1 tsp
9. Coriander Powder: 1 tsp
10. Turmeric Powder: 1/4 tsp
11. Asafoetida: 1 tsp
12. Cumin Seeds: 1 tsp
13. Carom Seeds: 1 tsp
14. Oil: for cooking + frying
15. Water: 3 cups
Method:
FOR MAKING WRAPPERS:
1. In a bowl add wheat flour and salt. Mix all the dry ingredients using a wire whisk.
2. Add water (little at a time) and mix them well.
3. Place a pan on medium heat and grease oil on it.
4. Add a ladle full of batter and spread it evenly. Allow it to dry.
5. Once done take it out on a plate. Similarly, make the rest of the sheets.
FOR MAKING FILLING:
1. Heat oil in another pan. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Fry them on low flame so that the tadka doesn't get bun.
2. Add finely chopped onion and fry them until they become soft.
3. Now, it's time to add the ginger-garlic paste. Cook the mixture until the raw flavor is gone.
4. Mash the boiled potatoes with your hands and add them to the mixture.
5. Add the dry spice: salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and chat masala. Mix everything well and let the mixture cook for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.
6. Once done add the peas and cook for another minute.
7. Switch off the flame and allow the mixture to cool down.
FOR ASSEMBLING THE PATTIES:
1. Take a sheet and add the filling.
2. Fold the sides of the wrapper.
3. Apply the flour paste and roll the sides inward.
4. Heat oil in a pan and fry the patties on medium flame until they turn golden in color.
5. Once done take them out on a plate.
6. Serve the Potato Patties with salad and dipping sauce of your choice. Enjoy!!
